I have decided to sublet some studio space that I have at the shop.  I am looking for an artist or crafts-person who is looking for some room to grow as well as product placement opportunity in the store.  Ideally this will be someone who lives locally, and of course who’s craft will fit in with the shop’s other offerings.  I also have storage space that would come as part of this package.   The lease would be a tenant at will, so their would be no long term commitment.  Please contact me directly either at the store 978.463.3077 or through email kimgobbi@jonesysjewels.com .  Pass this on to whomever you think might be interested!

We’ve shoveled out and the snow has stopped.  So if you still need to do some holiday shopping WALK downtown.  Many of our neighbors are also open.  Hope to see you!

If you see this coupon, come down and tell us “I read the Blog”.  We’ll give you 20% off any full priced item in the shop.  *** Good all weekend long November 23 – 25.   Hope to see you soon!

Obviously the shop will be closed tomorrow for Thanksgiving.  We wish everyone a happy holiday and hope you get to spend it with all your loved ones.  See you on Friday!

Anna Jaques had a great campaign for digital mammography that featured local women business owners.  This was my ad (I think there was major use of photoshop!) that appeared in yesterdays newspaper.  Special thanks to Jennifer Karin from Company Public Relations who was nice enough to include me in this wonderful Public Service Campaign.  Now everyone go out and get a mammogram!

Now this is nice. This is what Fall in New England should feel like.  It was a beautiful sunny day and it hovered around 62 – 65 degrees.  PERFACT…  I am really a happy girl! The rest of the week doesn’t look too bad either…  Stop by to see my smile!

As much as I enjoy having the door open, I must say I am not diggin’ the weather.  New England really shines in the Fall, and I enjoy wearing my hoodie.  Cross your fingers we get some cool breezes soon!

This and other cuties in from Goorin Brothers.  Come by to top off your Fall wardrobe!

This is a coupon for 10% off any new Fall Merchandise!  It’s for you just for reading the blog.  Aren’t you lucky?!!!  Right click the picture to print it and bring it down to the shop.  Or just tell us you saw it on the blog!

If you have been anywhere near Newburyport this week, you know it’s Yankee Homecoming.  For the shop, that means that our regular customers are frustrated with the lack of parking and the crowds, but for many it’s a chance to discover us for the first time.  Also we have LOTS and LOTS of things on Sale this week, stop down and see us.  Especially on Thursday, Friday and Saturday for the Sidewalk Sales.  And if you are around tomorrow, please come by and check out The Studio at the Yankee Homecoming Fashion Show.  Two of our sales clerks, Becca and Rachel will be modeling our clothes and jewelry.  Also we will be outfitting this years Master of Ceremonies, Clair McCarthy from North Shore Magazine.

On Friday we got in these beautiful jewelry stands.  They look like little tree branches and the middle branch lifts off so that you can store rings or bangles on it.  We love them for their rustic charm and intrinsic beauty, the use-fullness of such a pretty object is just icing on the cake.  I took one home and it looks so cute on my make-up table stocked with Jonesy’s Jewels.

My son Drew (in the center of this photo) won a local honor last week.  In celebration of Peace Month, Newburyport gives out a “Peace Prize” to one boy and one girl from each school.  Drew was nominated by his teacher and a panel picked him as the recipient of the award for the Kelley School.  We were so happy to have both Grandmothers, and our good friends the Dwyer family with us to celebrate.  The kids all wore their “Stop Wars” T-Shirts from Clothing for the American Mind, they looked awesome!  What a perfect night.  We are so proud!

Rachel works here at the shop and has been waiting and waiting for this shipment from Sound Girl to arrive.  We think she looks great in these shorts!

I want to thank SEED especially Liss, Sheila, and Elizbeth who were just incredibly patient with me and generous with their time.  The window looks wonderful.  These pictures don’t do it justice.  Please stop down this weekend and have a look!

As you can see the whole family is in on the fun.  I had to buy Eli lolipops though.

This is my husband David.  We have been painting the store for 2 days.  I think we are done. I’ll try to remember to post a picture of him smiling.  It may be a few days…  Tomorrow we start moving stuff in.  Stay tuned!

Here’s my dad, he’s putting plugs in the ceiling so I can hang lights.  He rocks.

As much as we love our little shop on Inn Street we’re moving on to new digs this week.  Look for Posts about our progress painting and fixing up our new location on State Street.  Hold onto your hats, we HOPE to be finished and moved in over there by this Friday (the 20th!).  Our hours on Inn Street are going to end tomarrow.   We are scheduled to be open here on Inn Street until 5:00PM, but with the impendening storm we may close early.  Keep Checking this blog for updates.  We hope to see you at the new STUDIO at 46 State Street, next Friday!

The new addition of American Style Magazine arrived today. It’s such a great resource for all things design, including Art, Craft, and Galleries. We offer it FREE for our customers. So stop down to grab your copy while supplies last.

I am diggin’ this early spring, too bad I hear that it might be snow this weekend.  For now lets enjoy this beautiful day,  I hope to see you downtown!

I swore I was not going to carry a line of candles, but then I went to visit my friend in Brooklyn… We walked into a shop in her trendy little neighborhood and smelled the most  wonderful scent.  Soft and somehow a little sexy, I was in love.  I am still hooked on the black current, but the others we got in are heavenly too.  We’ve been burning them in the shop, so stop down and inhale!

I mentioned in an earlier porst that I am closing the shop this week, to spend the vacation week with my kids.  The store will resume our normal hours on Saturday February 24, 2007.   Look for new posts staring again next weekend (Feb. 24th).  I will be previewing some of my finds from the Buyer’s Market of Fine Craft.  Philadelphia was COLD, but the show as beautiful and I found some great new artists for the shop.  Stay tuned!

It’s looking a little scary out there!   For those of you hoping to get and buy that last minute gift, I am going to try, but can’t promiss that we’ll be open later this afternoon.  There is good and bad to living and working in downtown Newburyport.  We have no driveway and there is a parking ban, so our cars are in the lot a few blocks away, but I can walk to work, so I guess that works.  As soon as it stops snowing and I see a car or two on the road I will head out.  If in dout, call the shop at 978 463 3077, if I answer, we’re open!

We will now be carrying American Style Magazine, and you can take it home for FREE (while they last).  If you are not familiar with this premier magazine of American craft, this is a great opportunity to check it out for free.  Stop in and pick one up.

My last teacher gift suggestion are these charming matchbook notes  ($2.75 each or 4 for $10) from Egg Press.  They are a “A handy and stylish place to jot your notes, you can choose to either tuck these tiny matchbook notepads into a pocket or purse, or simply dress up your desktop.”  I can’t think of anything a teacher needs more than a cute little note pad!
